I’ll Be Resting in My Garden

20180731_124058

I’ll be resting in my garden with my eyes only half closed

dreaming, aware of the earth’s spin

and of poems floating

through the clouds.

I’ve decided to take a summer break, which for me does not include hiding on Instagram and Twitter!

I will still be here, only less often. In addition to trips to the beach and the mountains I will be on photographic journeys.

Did you know that was my other hobby?

I’m also making time for something I’ve really wanted to do……and that is reading, as in reading books!

Reading outside is even more amazing. Now where did I put my sunglasses?

Sweet Summer Memories

100_0890

In those waves where light seems to glitter,

ride memories

of a boy on a raft,

of body surfing, and wipe outs

and dreaming

of being old enough

to drive,

a Chevy of course

old enough to take Marianne

on a date……

would she want to dance?

Suddenly a seagull woke the old man….

squawking again

for a piece of bread.

He reached into the bag

and threw some crumbs in the air…..

longing for more

of his sweet summer memories.

Shining Brightly in the Sun

Oceans 184

Green and blue rolling, shining brightly in the sun

as the seagulls hover, expecting bread

the wind moving your straw hat,

in our beach chairs

I watch you reading,

and I silently wonder

how I ever lived without you,

and again

you take my breath away,

so I pledge my life to you

all over again

silently.

Distant Summers

100_5570

All of our summers seem so distant now, only ghosts

sitting in lifeguard’s chairs, empty picnic tables

our memories of families happy

and running through

knee high grass

traded

for the thrill

of autumn winds,

and temporary color.

Remembering Our Green

20150430_083443

It’s ok to remember our green, our days when we were young,

do you remember My Love, the times we lived in the flowers, and touched

the lavender? Strolling in purple, but you always drifted towards

the white, and the mix of red, making pink. I love the way

you place carnations in your hair,

with your eyes surrounding me.

My Love, so true.
