Late Summer Meditations II

One golden leaf translucent from the sun, nearly transparent, a thin remembrance of prior glories. Is it stuck in the tree avoiding the final fall, the fall of no return? Or is it only last years’ forgotten memories of brilliance?

The wind shifted and the leaf finally did fall. I couldn’t help lifting up a prayer for the ending of summer, and the beginning of autumn. Let us begin again.

Late Summer Meditations

Mornings are just a little cooler now in the forest, while green silently fades from the leaves. I can almost grasp the essence of the wind, as tree branches gently sway with sunlight shimmering through the canopy.

And I realize our wholeness is not elusive, or even some deep mystery, simply a return to who we truly are and were always meant to be, each different and yet an important part…. of Earth’s creation.

Spirit beings.

Notations Part II

I so appreciate your comments! I am encouraged on a constant basis. Thank you! If you don’t receive a reply right away it’s because I don’t blog with my phone anymore.

I tried 2 different experiments this week. One was to write something a little bizarre, but in a good way. “Time Traveler” was fun for me and I wanted to shake things up a bit. I will be doing more of these!

The other experiment was that I posted everyday, Monday-Friday even if it wasn’t new. It was not as difficult as I thought it might be. How some of you can post 4-5 times a day though is amazing!

We have a lot of doctor visits and my wife and I enjoy the company of each other, so I will be cutting back some. Besides it’s summer now! And the pandemic is hopefully, prayerfully winding down here.

Thank you so much for reading!

Peace.

I’ll Be Resting in My Garden

20180731_124058

I’ll be resting in my garden with my eyes only half closed

dreaming, aware of the earth’s spin

and of poems floating

through the clouds.

I’ve decided to take a summer break, which for me does not include hiding on Instagram and Twitter!

I will still be here, only less often. In addition to trips to the beach and the mountains I will be on photographic journeys.

Did you know that was my other hobby?

I’m also making time for something I’ve really wanted to do……and that is reading, as in reading books!

Reading outside is even more amazing. Now where did I put my sunglasses?

Sweet Summer Memories

100_0890

In those waves where light seems to glitter,

ride memories

of a boy on a raft,

of body surfing, and wipe outs

and dreaming

of being old enough

to drive,

a Chevy of course

old enough to take Marianne

on a date……

would she want to dance?

Suddenly a seagull woke the old man….

squawking again

for a piece of bread.

He reached into the bag

and threw some crumbs in the air…..

longing for more

of his sweet summer memories.

Shining Brightly in the Sun

Oceans 184

Green and blue rolling, shining brightly in the sun

as the seagulls hover, expecting bread

the wind moving your straw hat,

in our beach chairs

I watch you reading,

and I silently wonder

how I ever lived without you,

and again

you take my breath away,

so I pledge my life to you

all over again

silently.
