The Summer Light

The summer light seems so much more beautiful, streaming

through the coolness and comfort

of the dark forest.

Under the Oak Trees

We can spread our blanket out My Love

under the oak trees, a picnic

lunch with iced tea

as we look out over the mountains

at the beauty

I love when we get lost

in each other’s eyes.

Shining Brightly in the Sun

Oceans 184

Green and blue rolling, shining brightly in the sun

as the seagulls hover, expecting bread

the wind moving your straw hat,

in our beach chairs

I watch you reading,

and I silently wonder

how I ever lived without you,

and again

you take my breath away,

so I pledge my life to you

all over again

Distant Summers

All of our summers seem so distant now, only ghosts

sitting in lifeguard’s chairs, empty picnic tables

our memories of families happy

and running through

knee high grass

for the thrill

of autumn winds,

and temporary color.

Remembering Our Green

It’s ok to remember our green, our days when we were young,

do you remember My Love, the times we lived in the flowers, and touched

the lavender? Strolling in purple, but you always drifted towards

the white, and the mix of red, making pink. I love the way

you place carnations in your hair,

with your eyes surrounding me.

My Love, so true.

Beach Flowers

As the summer recedes and slowly pulls away from the beach,

at least the flowers are persistent, still pulling life

from barren sand.

This always amazes me.

All I want from this summer My Love,

are our memories. Of you and I in our beach chairs,

and playing in the waves.
