All I Want for My Birthday

20171126_134611

My Love, all I want for my birthday this year, is time with you

up on the ridge,

where we can breathe

in our confidence

letting go

of all our fears

walking through the pine trees

watching the brilliance

of all the leaves

dressed in their colors, dancing

in the wind.

The two of us encouraged

as we walk under the oaks,

maples and poplar trees,

their essence enfolding us,

the smell of leaves

as we embrace,

speaking life

into each other.

Note: It’s not quite my birthday. Not yet! 🙂

The Weeping Willow Tree

20160418_122232

Branches and leaves from the weeping willow tree bending

yet, still holding the sun in place

filtering

light, randomly sprinkled

on the surface of the water,

my spirit was lifting

in the beautiful silence

hovering over the river,

I could see through it

when I realized I did have a line

to write, was it a poem?

or a prayer?

I will have to ask the river

once again.

Spirit Poems II

100_5613

Entering the forest with my jacket and a fragment of a poem,

my spirit is immediately calmed by tree limbs, holding

leaves that dance in the wind, and sparkle

in the sunlight. The presence is pointing

to an opening up high

in the canopy

above the maple trees

a set of wings confirms the sentence,

and I know now the full measure

of a poem born

flying

on its own.

Snowflakes in our Spring

100_5674

In our spring, snowflakes can be seen meandering, and sometimes making winter

seem so close again, resting in trees, laughing at buds attempting

to burst with freedom, discouraging our growth.

But the biting cold will have to let go

because our warmth will overcome

and it won’t be long until

we are free

once again.

The Wind in the Willows

20160418_122220

As the wind moves through the willow trees there is a redemption,

a washing of our minds and souls, as the leaves move gently

fluttering, speaking peace and calmness – and we realize,

there is no reason to worry, it’s time now

to let go, and to be lifted up.

The Canopy

20160709_140237

When we spend time under the canopy, a simple walk here can make the world less dangerous,

or so it seems, we feel safe in the light of eternity, basking

in the assurance that we are made

filled with the peace

of the trees.

Stronger because of the clean

oxygen.
