In the Twilight of Summer

In the twilight of summer, cicadas sing of their glory

yet the air is just a little cooler

over the water.

As Seagulls Peer into the Waves

Beach Waves

As seagulls peer into the waves, expecting the night to fall,

an older couple refuse to give up their walk

in spite of the chill, the sun setting

her hand in his, still holding

having been through enough hell

to never let go of love

or each other.

Their twilight was always

the most beautiful.

our souls stretching, taking a moment seeing,

comprehending the waves

relaxing our minds,

understanding the rhythm, and the moon descending,

a time to gather in, and to rest, never ceasing

to be hopeful, comforting

yet very much in between.
