No Victory Without Love

from-bladeseller

As racism surges forward, may we all run with the wind

have the courage of lions, fight with the strength we’ve been given

and always use the armor and weapons of love.

There is no victory

without love.

All that is Gold

100_0557

“All that is gold, does not glitter”

J.R.R. Tolkien

Courage never means we win all the battles,

but sometimes we learn where

the battles really are.

The more quiet we are internally

the more we hear where

the victory is.

Where is your gold?

Encouragement

100_1171

As they both sat on top of the mountain, the dragon said to the angel, “There, you see? She is mine now! Despair has won!” The angel yelled, “NO!” and put up his huge hand. They watched the human, attempting to climb higher, scraped, bruised, and beaten by the rocks, bleeding.

It was her personal mountain, of trying not to be loved and accepted constantly, of being happy with herself, forgiving herself. She needed to accept who she was, but it was a horrible fight.

She paused barely holding on, her arm muscles twitching from fatigue, feet slipping. And during this great struggle, she stopped and bowed her head. A simple prayer really.

The angel smiled, and continued speaking, “She’s not giving up, and she will never be yours, as long as she doesn’t quit!”

Mission Possible

If you’ve ever seen the movies called Mission Impossible, (or the old TV show), the good guys always win. So in a way they could be called Mission Possible. Every mission the agents get involved with, seems absolutely impossible in the beginning, and yet somehow the challenges are overcome and there is victory. That’s why I gave the post this name.

Also wanted to share some music because it is Sunday, and I’m in a relaxed mood. Here we have Lindsey with the Piano Guys, or at least two of them. There is also some humor here.

Have a great week everyone! Keep dancing, keep playing the music, and shining your light. Victory is right around the corner.

Peace!

The Wind in the Pine Trees

Woods 2015 025

The wind in the pine trees always speaks,

of prophecy, of the place where eagles live

where kings never see, never understanding

taking us, our minds past the conflict, into

the kingdom of trees, the freedom of flying

so that we can listen and be filled,

moving, and knowing finally the wholeness,

and the confidence of peace.

The wind in the pine trees always speaks.

Writing about Courageous Women

Maine and More 358

Women are amazing, and inspiring. I love reading history about the courageous women of the past, and seeing the women of today, succeed in spite of incredible challenges. But how do you write about women, especially if you’re a guy?

When I write a story, I almost always write through the eyes of a male character. But I make sure that this character sees women in a positive light. Usually there is a sense of awe that he has, that causes the story to focus not just on him, but the woman, or women, in the story.

I also purposely reverse roles. For instance, Jeremiah, in the Last People series, is the one that cooks, and prepares food, instead of the traditional role we so easily accept. Miriam is also very tall, taller than Jeremiah. This doesn’t mean she is more powerful, it simply means they are different, and that they learn to love each other, and embrace their differences. In the Escape series, Belinda is a better sailor than Robert.

I also want the women characters to be courageous, because they are in real life! They fight, they overcome, and win. In an older series that I wrote, there was a character named Sky, and she had victory over a terrible sense of fear. Recently Miriam overcomes being abused, and so does Cathy in the Last People series. Many women for centuries have been abused, and I think it is important to show that healing wins. Women are wonderful fighters.

To be honest, my wife is the greatest example I have, of a woman of courage. Many of the women characters have elements of the one I love, especially courage. My wife is the most wonderful, amazing, courageous, person I have ever met. She has overcome incredible odds, and remains loving, and compassionate. I learn from her every day. So that’s why, I have such a high opinion of women.

I dedicate this post, and all of my love poems to her.

I love you sweetheart, and I always will.

To the reader, I wish you peace.

Get Back Up Again

Do you ever get discouraged? I do. I think we all do. Regardless of what we face in life, such as broken relationships, financial loss, and even blog stats taking a severe downturn 😦  we can not only live through it, we can keep going. Fortunately I married the most beautiful woman on the planet (inside and out) and she encourages me to keep fighting.

I love the fact that there is always something that motivates us on the inside, to get back up. Some use positive thinking, some have faith, but we all have something in us that tells us not to quit. And if someday I don’t have a blog, I will still keep going. And I will have a lot more free time! But to be honest, I blog because I love to write. Thanks for reading!

Here is a song, be careful with your ears!

Acceptance

Oceans 183

In the oceans of our opinions,

in the stormy seas of our rhetoric,

there is never any healing,

for those stranded at sea,

for those with sails burning,

the horizon is lost.

The hurting don’t need,

an email, some policy,

from distant talking heads,

they need a live person,

a human being,

to say to them, you matter,

that you have value,

that they you are loved and,

accepted.

Everyone should be welcomed in our ships,

where the sails,

have been restored,

and the horizon shines,

brightly with hope.
