Not All Warriors Are Healed

20170503_163111 (1)

Not all warriors are healed, having walked through the fire,

not all of them. It is in our spirits though where victory

is won. Only the brave can declare their freedom.

I found this post almost impossible to write. I should have written it days ago, but I did not have the words, and did not know even what my emotions were, and I still don’t. I am numb.

You see my wife has cancer again, the same one she had years ago. And this cancer has no cure. A bone marrow transplant helped her to live a lot longer than most people with this disease, and longer than doctors thought she would. She has a blood cancer, and a very tough one.

Yes, thank God she is still here on this earth. But she will have to be on chemo again, and then another, then another, until there are no more options. Right now, she is fighting some infections before she can even begin chemo.

I am right by her side. We have always been a team that cannot be broken, and we will continue to fight together. Is there any other way besides love? No, there isn’t.

We appreciate each of you, and we wish you peace.

The Howling

20150406_172805

The howling was not invented by Hollywood gods

no romance in the bones of dead walking

no teenagers with hearts throbbing

just ask those living in the streets

or those of us

with nightmares singing.

Fortunately for all of us

there are those bearing the sacred sword

and for them werewolves are nothing –

but sword practice, as they move

with the strength

of eternity.

The Swordsman – Dimensions II

woman warrior with sword-sfcoua

He did take her hand, and when the reappeared they were on a broad plain, with the sun setting. Behind them was an ancient castle, or what appeared to be a castle. All he could see were the outline of its walls and towers.

There had been a battle, a terrible fight. What shocked him the most was to see hundreds of swordsmen, and swordswomen, regrouping, and getting ready for the next wave of battle. He had never seen so many in one place.

Somehow he knew this was an important fight, and that he had been called here, like the others, for reinforcements. The very survival of the kingdom was at stake.

And so the monsters came, of all kinds, in neat and orderly ranks. And then it was on – metal against metal as they fought the stinking beasts. The smell of sulfur was everywhere, and many of the Swordsmen, and Swordswomen had to vomit because of the stench during the battle.

He could not understand why the horrible things were not running away, like they did when he fought them alone. Then he realized the prize, the kingdom, must be worth a great deal.

After slaying dozens of the beasts and watching them to turn to sand when he cut off their heads, the monsters began to retreat, only not for long.

He had a moment to look at the castle, the kingdom they were fighting for……..there was a plaque on it with the name of the kingdom, and suddenly he understood……

The plaque said, “The United States………..”

The Swordsman – Dimensions

from paristech

He was stuck, and he had no idea why. A strong breeze was blowing, as he hung on the outside of the 54th floor of a Manhattan office building, and it was tossing his cape like a flag waving. He had never had a problem before with moving through concrete, stone, glass, or even water, but the more he pushed into this wall of concrete, the more he couldn’t move.

He had been chasing a wolf like creature, in order to free an 83 year old woman, who was motionless in a nursing home, and he started getting angry because the thing was getting away. He had just gone through the glass that covered the building, and the metal frame holding the glass, and now his left arm, and half his body wouldn’t move in the concrete.

He saw motion out of the right side of his eye. Through the layers and angles of glass he saw someone, were they really there? It was more of a reflection really, with the pieces of glass distorting his view. It was another swordsman, and he was doing battle!

No wait – it was a woman fighting, a desperate sword fight with someone he couldn’t see. He felt like he was looking through a house of mirrors. He tried moving towards her so instead of pushing he started pulling. It worked!

He flew towards her and the scene changed suddenly. He was now standing in a dark tunnel with a single light, from an unknown source at one end. There was no one and then she appeared, the swordswoman he had seen.

She appeared angry, and said, “What are you doing here, and what do you want!” “I don’t want anything he said, and he meant it. “I’m here but I don’t know where here is!”

She was silent, but as she stared at him, the earth shook, and he heard a loud rumbling in the earth above their heads. “An earthquake?” “No you idiot, it is the sound of war!” There was more rumbling and the single light began to flicker.

The Swordswoman sighed heavily, and said, “We have no choice – you will have to fight with the rest of us…….so take my hand.”

To be continued.

Life Giving

100_1070

A woman with no hair will not let you see her wound

as she sharpens her sword against despair

she learns, she lives for the shield

of encouragement. Our tears

our prayers, give

her strength

and a hug is

life giving.

The greatest warriors are those that love

not counting the cost of their tears.

Never withhold encouragement

from the warrior in

the fight.

Quotes for Warriors

Ships 172

“Courage isn’t having the strength to go on – it is going on when you don’t have the strength.”

Napoleon

“Courage is what it takes to stand up and speak. Courage is also what it takes to sit down and listen.”

Winston Churchill

“Courage is contagious. When a brave man takes a stand, the spines of others are stiffened.”

Billy Graham

We all face battles, so in that sense we are all warriors. If you have not faced a battle recently you are very fortunate indeed. I love these quotes above, not only because they encourage us to keep going, (and they do) but because they can help us to understand more of how to fight.

So when you face a tough time in the future, or if you’re going through one now, remember these three principles listed above. And keep fighting!
