A Word for Wednesday

The word for today is “forgive”. It happens to all of us, people say things, and do things to us that are just horrible. And sometimes it goes so deep we think we cannot possibly recover. I’m not talking about international events here, but personal relationships. People we know, can usually hurt us the most.

But nothing can hinder us more than walking around bitter and angry. Bitterness and anger will not only hinder our art and creativity, but hinder our growth as people. So what do we do? We forgive and let it go. That doesn’t mean we agree with what they did or said, but we release it. And believe what is true about yourself!

And sometimes it takes a while. Try this one simple test. Tomorrow or the next day, think about the person, or the event that hurt you deeply. If you still feel bitter about it, then continue the forgiveness. In the long run you will be better for it, and your spirit will experience freedom!

Have a great time this week, making our world a more beautiful place!

“When we love people, we give them hope.”

A Quote by Robert Frost on Greatness

Mountains and Rivers 157

There never was any heart truly great and generous, that was not also tender and compassionate.

Robert Frost

I love the poetry of Robert Frost, and this quote gives us yet another look, into the heart and thinking of the poet. There have been many great people of history, but all too often, the people that were called great, were people of war, or that loved war. I love this quote, because I think Frost was saying true greatness is connected to generosity, and that this greatness and generosity, come from, or come out of, a heart of tenderness and compassion.

And let’s not forget that there is a huge difference between weakness and compassion. In fact, a person that is compassionate is incredibly strong. There is nothing more powerful on earth, than love. It takes great strength to forgive someone that hates you. To have tenderness, and compassion for that same person, takes amazing strength, and is one of the most important battles you will ever face.

Never let hatred rule over you. Break the throne of hatred, by responding in the opposite way, with tenderness, and compassion. That is what true greatness is all about.

“If you love nature, you will love people.”

two candles from indianpublicmedia

All you really wanted, was some time,

I came home after days of working,

and what did I say,

after kissing your cheek?

“I have to write this story”,

“I haven’t blogged all day”, I said.

“I’ll just be 30 minutes”, I said.

Two hours later, I was still at the table,

writing my heart out,

while you had gone to the bedroom,

to light candles,

We were supposed to watch a movie,

or that British mystery series,

but I felt stupid,

when I saw the candles.

The fire had gone out.

Later we were next to each other,

in bed, alone,

back to back.

You were wondering,

about my heart,

I was dreaming of ways,

to make it up,

a dinner out? the Greek place?

All you really wanted was some time.

Please forgive me.

I need to live it,

of just writing about it.

Light a Candle

from women2 via google

Please light a candle, or lift up a prayer, or send some positive thoughts, to South Carolina today, especially for the families that have lost loved ones recently. In this tragedy there is alot of anger, but anger is not what the families need right now. They need love and support. As the community there comes together, let us pray that they will receive the strength, and comfort they need.

Some of the family members have already offered their forgiveness, to the shooter. This seems impossible but it’s true and so powerful. It is overwhelming really. One mother invited the shooter to repent, and to join the same Bible study in the future. I can not even imagine this.

Whether you live in the United States, or somewhere else in the world, please pray or think positive thoughts for our nation,  and our world, that we would get rid of this terrible plague of racism and hatred. Please light a candle. We need the light of love.

God help us. Amen.
