In the Brilliance of the Dawn

As ice releases its grip on the trees, bands of gold slice

through the forest, quicker than knives thrown,

it is a wonder how hawks can see

in the brilliance of the dawn,

and how the first flowers

can be so brave.

  1. Such beautiful words strung together like precious gems on a silk thread.
The hawk and its sight, the first flowers and their bravery…. exquisite juxtaposition of imagery.

  2. We each probably have our favorite lines or phrases from this poem. Mine is “and how the first flowers can be so brave”.
