Leadership of Hope II

“I will never forget that the only reason I’m standing here today is because somebody, somewhere stood up when it was risky. Stood up when it was hard. Stood up when it wasn’t popular. And because that somebody stood, a few more stood up. And then a few thousand stood up. And then a few million stood up. And standing up, with courage and clear purpose, they somehow managed to change the world.”

An American Hero

A Quote by Frederick Douglass – “Civil War was not a mere strife for territory and dominion, but a contest of civilization against barbarism.”

And so we fight on, in a different way but still determined.

Black Violin – Stereotypes

This is a powerful video! I was going to do something else tonight, but when I saw this I had to share it with you. There are two African American men in this video, playing some amazing violin music (actually I think one instrument may be a viola). And you guessed it, they are breaking stereotypes.

I think you will be amazed at the power of the message here. There are many stereotypes of different people, and we all can do something to change that, a little at a time. And the ending here, is something like a prayer. Let us hope for racial and cultural reconciliation.

I wish you peace!

“If you love nature, you will love people.”

August 6, 1965

The actor was teaching us,

about Britain and the colonies,

I can’t help thinking though,

there were no rights,

for some people.

And yet they were here, a part of us,

the first people,

being pushed west, dying,

and Africans being bought and sold,

in the market place,

God have mercy.

It wasn’t until August 6, 1965,

that African Americans could vote,

imagine, 1965.

Dr. King.

And by the way,

Britain abolished slavery,

long before we did.

God have mercy on us.
