Colors Fill My Pages

20180707_164603

I’ve decided to take a break from blogging here. After yesterday’s disaster with posting “Our Spirit Wings.” I decided it needed to happen.

I think there was a technical issue with it. However, I also hadn’t changed my password in awhile, and when that happens, disaster strikes every time.

So I need to step back because there are just way too much shenanigans on my site at the moment.

The fact is though, I love your posts and blogs, so this was a tough decision to make. And as you know I love writing. Colors fill my pages.

I’ll also be writing more short stories and working on my novel. Maybe even a poetry book!

I have also been exercising more, and devoting more time to self improvement, including reading and even yoga. Or at least I call it yoga!

I’m spending more time now with my wife, and I will in the future as she goes through another series of treatments.

Now, this does not mean I’ll be disappearing completely. I’ll be more part time when I come back.

Photography, my other hobby, will play a more vital role.

I plan to eventually return more fully.

Thank you so much! I appreciate each of you!

Wishing you peace.

Restoration

20170503_164915

“I won’t traffic in fear and division.”

Joe Biden

You know what? I believe Honest Joe when he says that.

He’s not perfect, and he says that too, in the context of he will take responsibility when he does make a mistake.

Instead of blaming others. I know too he will help this nation heal. He will be picking a woman running mate,

and I’m willing to bet she will be African American.

God, may the healing and restoration begin for our nation, for our world.

Amen.

A Day in the Life III

20180930_130130

Well I don’t have a sandwich to talk about today, but I am looking forward to some roasted red pepper hummus, on some pita bread,

whole wheat of course. And some sparkling water with some lemon-lime flavoring will be a special treat.

I’ve been realizing that I’m pushing too hard again. There are a lot of hours at work, a number of doctor’s appointments, and blogging too.

Please remember I’m not a professional blogger. I need rest, just like I write about!

In the most ancient of times, the One who made us all, the One who has always been,

told us to take a break once in awhile. One day in seven sounds great to me!

I’ll post a little, and be back to reading your great posts in a few days.

Now all I need is a spoon for this excellent hummus.

Wishing you peace! Stay healthy!

A Day in the Life

20170531_193957

Well, it’s just about time for a turkey sandwich, with mayo and a slice of American cheese, on whole wheat.

(Yes, I know American is not good for me!) Sometimes I use a mild Cheddar or even Colby, but straight Colby

not Colby Jack. I wish I could say I put lettuce and tomatoes on it, but to be honest, that rarely happens.

For breakfast I start with English Breakfast Tea, and a small amount of very, very dark chocolate. High octane dark

is very high in nutrients and low in sugar. Then for the meal it’s egg whites with cheese! I also place a lot of pepper,

oregano and other spices in them. I didn’t really receive any inspiration for a poem today,

I think it’s because I was still wrapped up in the Piers Morgan interview on the news channel.

I do recommend it. He basically said the President needs to stop politicizing and electioneering the pandemic.

This is not about the election! This is about saving lives, and taking care of the American people. The focus is too much on him! Ok enough said.

Now back to my turkey sandwich. Don’t tell my wife, but I’m also having some Utz brand potato chips. Love em!

Later, it’s time to excercise.

I wish you peace and good health.

Gone Astray

20170503_164915

It seems that conservatives in the House and Senate have gone far astray, much like a person of faith walking away,

lost in the wilderness, or denying there is any truth anymore, spinning Russian fables, smearing our heroes……to protect…….the idol, because he’s conservative.

Note: It’s not that progressives are sinless but here, in the Impeachment hearings, there is a clear presentation…….of truth.

The Zen Teacher

20170628_132542

I was listening to NPR (National Public Radio) one day and the guest being interviewed was a Zen Buddhist teacher.

She is also African American and gay. I do enjoy much of the wisdom and philosophy of Buddhism even though I’m not Buddhist.

And this teacher said some things that registered with me. Such as overcoming suffering by an internal change,

by sitting and quieting our spirits, and by love, understanding who we are in the space we’ve been given.

And the change needs to be collective to impact our world.

In my younger days of being a super conservative person of faith, I would have condemned this teacher

and never even listened to her simply because of who she is, but instead I learned some things that day.

My point is we need to listen to people, accept our differences and learn from one another.

Diversity brings growth.

Amen.

Battle Fatigue

20170503_164915

Well I admit it, I’ve been holding back. After all we’ve been through within the past two years with this president, I think we’re all burned out, trying to just survive our battle fatigue.

And that’s the biggest danger, that we will not care anymore. It doesn’t really matter does it, that he’s lied so much, that he hides his money, that he does seem to have obstructed justice a number of times, that he just wants to look good,

that the AG spun the report in a positive way, causing conservatives to do the happy dance, when in fact the report isn’t positive at all.

Another protector blocking attempts to find the truth simply because, he’s “conservative”.

But it does matter when people do wrong and try to get other people to do wrong too.

Did you know you don’t have to commit a crime to be impeached?

Yes eating chicken during a hearing is stupid, and inappropriate, but we need to protect our democracy,

not a politician who believes he is above the law, and that he should be able to do whatever he wants. Nah, we don’t need that.

What Would He Say?

20170503_164915

If God himself came down to bring judgment on our nation what would He say to the rich attempting to remove healthcare from the poor?

Many with pre-existing conditions?

What would He say to leaders still putting brown children in cages?

What would He say to White Nationalists, some in government or even in media, continuing to spread hatred, inciting violence?

What would He say to leaders refusing to acknowledge the devastation of our climate changing, putting us all in danger and in harm’s way?

What would He say to a leader that lies about paying off women to keep quiet, about having sex with them?

And most of all what would he say to the people calling faith their home, as they bow down to their vulgar conservative idol, doing all they can to protect him, simply because he is called conservative?

What in heaven’s name would God say?

Within My Peace

20180930_130130

When readers come to my site what do they expect to see? Poetry mostly, or maybe a short story, but they are not really looking for political commentary. That’s not the way I designed this site.

And yet I feel things deeply, as many of us do, and much of what we see seems so wrong. How do we stop the madness?

Perhaps as artists and writers we are made internally to feel strongly and observe the insanity, so that we can articulate a response in a creative way.

And yet I hold back, firstly because of what I’ve mentioned. And secondly because I could easily spend all my time caught up in the turmoil of the times we live in.

I need freedom of spirit and mind to spread my writing wings. So I don’t need to solve the world’s problems, and especially not here on this site.

And yet you will on occasion see some lines on how I feel, hopefully in a natural way, usually condemning hate. I do think we should take a stand.

And finally, I am a progressive even though I don’t agree with everything they come up with, and that’s ok. I wasn’t always progressive though.

I think I can give a unique perspective because I’ve been on both sides of the aisle.

Within my peace I strive for a clear vision.

I hope you all feel respected and appreciated here. Thank you for listening.

Peace to you.

My Sunday Afternoon

100_1069

People don’t read the paper on Sunday anymore, do they? We I guess if it’s online. Today I’m taking it easy. After church, and lunch with the family, I’m spending some time reading.

Currently I’m reading Jan Karon’s book, Somewhere Safe with Somebody Good. I’ve had this book on my shelf for years and even started it once, but it’s been like rediscovering buried treasure! I think I’ve now read the whole Mitford series. I can’t wait to see what else I have on my shelf!

I’m also writing today. When I go back and read what I wrote months ago, I can’t believe how many changes are needed!

Tonight there’ll be some buttered popcorn, and a movie with my sweetheart. I’ve found the best movies are usually watched at home.

Before then, it’s always good to have a nap! Isn’t that what Sundays are made for?

I don’t have Facebook or Twitter so thanks for listening to me ramble.

So how are you spending your day?
