River Poem

Opening the door was never a struggle, to flow or let the wordflow in,

yet he pushed back on the obscure, preferring

to meander a while in the shade of oak trees,

his heart willing and wordflow

always honest, she

flowed quietly,

or sometimes roared

he let her have her way,

until she was finished

he smiled

closing his laptop,

grateful

for another day.

In the Depths of My Heart

My friends if you were to look into the depths of my heart you would find my faith in God (which has been renewed lately), a deep and amazing love for my wife, love for the rest of my family, and the heart of a writer. I do love to write, and in some ways it’s who I am.

Yet it seems to me that blogging is less popular than it was. I’m going by current trends on my site and some others as well. Photography blogs still tend to do amazingly well, yet many bloggers are loaded to the gills with social media. There are so many platforms now, it’s simply amazing!

And yet I’m not on any of them. There’s nothing wrong with social media, and that’s not my point anyway. It’s just that people are a lot busier than they were say, 3 years ago, or even last year. Some of my readers are part time, which is much different than when I started.

And now we are all streaming videos a whole lot more! What’s you’re favorite show? I lean towards science fiction. Anyway, now we are yet pulled in that direction too, with less time for blogging.

I really appreciate each of you!

I’m going to ignore trends for days of the week, and simply post on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, and maybe a quick photo on Sunday. That’s plenty for me. The heck with stats. My posts will be a little different too, with more fiction mixed in,

Remember my post the “Interpretation“? I loved writing that!

Thank you so much for reading!

From the Writer’s Den

As I sit at my desk I notice the leaves are still changing, into bright gold, even yellow, and especially red. This is such an amazing season.

And I’m so thankful to all of my readers! If you’ve known me for awhile you know that I love writing. I’ve been blogging for years. Did you know I have 2,814 posts here?

That’s alot of writing! For awhile I was posting twice a day. Did you know I used to write fiction?

One of my favorite series was “Colors of the Night Sky” The main female character had colors running through her, including purple all through her hair, pulsing.

Anyway, I have maxed out on this sight, meaning I have no storage left. I cannot load any new photos, and that’s no fun!

So I have some decisions to make. Do I upgrade or start a new blog that looks completely different?

Ironically I have been wanting to make some big changes here, including a new theme and look.

I’m at the place of say….. a person deciding to either renovate my current home, or move on to a new one.

I’ll keep you posted.

Thank you again for reading!

I wish you peace.

America the Beautiful

We have such a beautiful country, don’t we?

The other day my wife and I were driving near our home when we noticed a woman walking, dressed in traditional clothing, perhaps from Africa.

Yet Africa’s not a country, did you know that? There are many countries,

thousands of cultures and languages there. And this lady was wearing some beautiful clothing, with bright colors.

And later in the day My Love and I were on our front porch speaking of love and whatever the future holds,

when a neighbor walked by with her grandson. She’s a good neighbor, and from Indonesia.

Such a beautiful country we are.

Well unless you consider…..the militias. The ugliness of far right extremists, in love with their assault rifles,

intimidating voters, spinning bizarre ideas, many hating brown or black people.

Stop the far right extremists, stop the hate, stop the lies.

Keep America beautiful,

and free.

VOTE.

When Light Breaks Through

When light breaks through the heart of a writer,

a new path opens

where there was none.

And sometimes the light

for the path was there,

yet we had forgotten

where to find it.

The other day when I wrote, “Modern Love”, it was a real breakthrough for me, not because it was something new,

but because I used to write that way alot. I love writing minifiction. And in spite of everything, in spite of living in the middle

of a pandemic, my wife having cancer again, in spite of working long hours sometimes, I can still write like that,

and yes poetry too. I was encouraged and light was breaking through in many beautiful ways.

Thank you for reading!

Winter Break

20180930_130122

Well it is that time of year, when we rest, regroup and rewrite our own particular story.

Are you where you want to be? Is your journey reflecting who you are? I often take this time to reassess.

I will be reading, exercising, and cooking some new foods…

and spending time with family. I will be posting sometimes, and visiting your sites in a few days.

Peace and wonderful blessings!

In Our Seasons

20190918_095319

Lately I’ve been experimenting with different times for posting. In some ways blogging can be like politics.

I’ve been hopeful initially and then…….oh no what happened?!

And apparently my work is not nearly as popular as it used to be, it’s only a fraction now of what it once was.

My work of poetry had a certain flow in 2017, which I really love. Yet I have changed too, over the past few years. So admittedly, I do get discouraged.

However, in thinking about it, and in praying about it, I know I still have something to contribute.

I still have a voice here, and I still have something to say. My goal has always been to make the world a more beautiful place.

I’m in the market for a good camera now and plan to explore my continuing love of photography.

Thank you so much for reading, and investing your time here! You all are awesome!

P.S. I’ll be making a few adjustments to the site, and to posting.

Peace.

Fig Leaves Brushed My Cheek

20180707_161359

Fig leaves brushed my cheek as I made my way

to the river,

having seen the invitation,

I found a oneness

in the sun.

A poem was clearly calling

my name, so I pursued

the words into a meadow –

capturing them, with my pen.

There wasn’t a fight really,

only a surrender.

My Words Seek a Path Not Hidden

20160709_140207

As if in a thick forest my words

seek a path not hidden.

Well it seems as if my site has been compromised again. Yes, we are in a summer lull, but this is different.

So, I had to make a decision today. Do I post once a month? Once a week? Do I go the opposite way, and blast 5 posts out in a single day? Nah! I will say that the less I am here, the more my site becomes an easy target.

So why am I still here? To be honest I believe in my work, I really do. And I want to see it do well. I ask for nothing in return, I make no money, I ask for no sponsors. I love to write, and I love to read your work, that’s why I’m here.

And I do get wonderfully encouraged. A blogging friend recently said I should, “share my gift.” That really makes my day! The strange thing is I had been thinking about writing more often. Many of you feel comfortable interacting with me through comments, and that is very special.

So, I don’t want to end this blog, or my faith based blog, Walking through Psalms, which is also limping along. And no, I’m not just looking at stats.

I have some ideas for moving forward, and one idea I have for now, is to share some of my older work with you. Did you know that for awhile I was posting twice a day, and I wrote fiction? There are more than 2,100 posts on this site!

And maybe I’ll throw in a quote once in a while, or an update about my wife and I. Let me know what you think. I’m seeking your input.

To all my readers thank you for reading and for your wonderful support!

Peace.
